Fanttik X8 APEX Tire Inflator Portable Air Compressor Review

Jan 01, 2024Jan 01, 2024

The Fanttik X8 APEX Tire Inflator is a portable air compressor that makes it super easy to inflate, and even deflate, car and bike tires. Instead of lugging around a large, heavy air compressor, this portable version fits easily in your hand. But it does more than that: it can also be used to power your phone while on the go. But how well does it perform? I recently had the pleasure of testing it for this review.

The Fanttik X8 APEX Tire Inflator is a small, portable compressor that weighs in at just under two pounds and is less than eight inches tall. It's truly compact and easy to take with you.

The rechargeable 7,800 mAh battery lasts up to 40 minutes of continuous use per charge. Use the battery to power the air compressor, built-in flashlight, or even to charge your USB devices, such as smartphones. It's a multipurpose tool designed for emergencies and convenience.

The 12 V X8 Apex is twice as fast as previous models, providing 32L/min. of airflow to quickly boost low tires and balls. It supports a range of 3 to 150 PSI. Simply set your desired pressure, and the inflator takes care of the rest, automatically cutting off when the set pressure is reached. You will never have to worry about accidentally overfilling your tires.

To make things even easier, choose from one of four preset modes:

Each comes with an average setting to get you started. Of course, you’re able to manually change the setting at any time.

The large and easy-to-read LCD screen shows both your desired level and the current pressure value. Use this as a digital tire gauge as well as an air compressor.

Honestly, the Fanttik X8 APEX Tire Inflator is so well packaged, you could just leave it in the box when it's not in use to keep it protected. Along with the air compressor itself, the X8 APEX includes:

The storage bag is a soft, drawstring bag that even includes an inner pouch for the adapters and charging cable.

You could easily start using the Fanttik X8 APEX Tire Inflator without reading the user manual, but it's always good to check out the various settings anyway. Unlike many gadgets nowadays, Fanttik provides a really detailed user guide in the box without requiring you to visit a website or download anything. This is a major plus in my book.

The inflator has a flashlight and the hose connector at the top, two USB ports (5V/3A USB-C input and 5V/2A USB-A output) on the bottom, and the LCD screen and control buttons on the front.

Simply press and hold the power button for a few seconds to turn the device on/off. Tap the power button once to start inflating an item. Use the arrow keys to change the desired PSI. Use the mode button to quickly jump between preset modes. You don't need to use the modes if you don't want to.

The only thing I needed to do to get started was screw in the hose at the top of the compressor. I do wish you didn't have to spin the entire hose around to do this, but it only takes about 15 seconds and attaches securely.

For standard car/truck tires, you don't need to attach any of the adapters. Just screw the other end of the hose to your open tire stem. For certain bikes, you’ll need the Schrader-Presta valve adaptor. Of course, for balls, you’d use the needle valve adapter.

I only needed to top off a few tires, but that's all it took for me to be thoroughly impressed by the speed and ease of use. Usually, I have to carry a 50ish-pound air compressor uphill to do this. With the Fanttik X8 APEX Tire Inflator, I already topped off the tires and put the compressor away before I could even get my larger, corded one up to my vehicle.

To fill my low tire just a few pounds, it took less than 30 seconds. I set it to car mode, set my desired pressure, and let the device do the rest. It turned off the moment it reached the setting.

To make sure everything was reading correctly, I also verified the pressure before and after with another tire gauge. It was perfect.

This could easily top off your car tires multiple times and even refill a flat tire on a single charge.

I’d like to point out that it's not extremely loud. It's only 80 dB max, which is about the same as a standard vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer near your ear.

My poor basketball was about half deflated, so I knew this would be a good test. I attached the needle valve adapter, selected the ball mode, and went with the preset of 8 PSI. As soon as I inserted the needle into the ball, the display showed I only had 3 PSI. It took less than a minute to fill the ball perfectly.

If you’re without power or camping, you could charge your phone numerous times on a single charge of the Fanttik X8 APEX Tire Inflator. It doubles as a highly useful power bank. You’ll need to have a charging cable to use it, though. The included cable is only for charging the X8 APEX itself, not other devices.

A handy feature, especially if you’re pumping up a low tire on the side of the road, is the flashlight. It has a steady and slow flashing mode. I’m happy it's not the usual strobe, which is more distracting to other drivers than helpful.

Between topping off tires, pumping up a ball, using the flashlight, and charging a phone about 10%, the battery only lost one out of four battery icons, so every charge is made to last.

The Fanttik X8 APEX Tire Inflator is a powerful portable air compressor that's ideal for taking on trips, your daily commute, camping, biking, and more. By adding a flashlight and USB charging port, it's a multipurpose device you’ll find yourself using often. The compact design makes it easy to take with you anywhere.
