Jan 31, 2024Water back on in Berlin Township May 11 after morning repairs
Some residents in Berlin Township were temporarily without water Thursday morning, but service already has been restored to any affected homes and businesses.
Officials noticed a break in a water main on Ready Road around the area of Armstrong Road and Berlin Road Wednesday and notified emergency crews who responded to the scene. The water was shut off Thursday morning between 7 and 8 a.m. to begin repairs.
"It had to do with a gate valve," said Berlin Township Supervisor Dave Reaume. "You could see it gushing out of the ground, but they waited until today to make sure they had the parts available."
The outage affected residents in the northwest quadrant of the township, Reaume said.
Repair work was originally expected to extend into the afternoon but was completed shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday. The township put alerts out on both its website and Facebook page.
There is no boil-water advisory in affect, Reaume said.
